Wake Me When It’s Over
24 Hr / Durational Performance
Second Story Studios, Melbourne 2017
On the 14th-15th November 2017, Tenfingerz (Teneille Clerke) and Kerith Manderson-Galvin attempted to sleep for 24 hours in a gallery space for public viewing. The work finished with the artists waking to the result of the plebiscite- an end to a three month period where private lives were subject to public opinion as Australia submitted their postal vote in the same-sex marriage postal survey. It was a demonstration of endurance and hopelessness that questioned the perceived finality of a fight for LGBTIQA+ rights.
